Adrian Sherwood
Adrian Sherwood is widely acknowledged as one of the most important contributors to alternative music thru the eighties and nineties. The master mixer brought some of his bed tracks from his various collaborations with members of his On-U stable, and, in the warm sun of the last day at Fuji Rock Fest, he laid down some deep, deep, heavy dub. With the occasional guest vocal from members of Asian Dub Foundation and Audio Active, the comraderie and support between these acts in this genre is commendable. It must have been thrilling for the younger artists to be onstage with someone they've admired and been influenced by. Sherwood's set displyed his favorite niche in the dub genre, the post-reggae bass driven grooves that put a calm, chilled-out flavour over the appreciative Field of Heaven audience.
