 Maximo Intense

Short, Sharp, Shocked

When Maximo Park played at Unit in Tokyo a couple months ago, lead singer Paul Smith was sucking on a honey bottle so that he could continue to strangle out the lyrics. Economy class syndrome must be hell on the chords, especially when you use them to crank out such intense lyrics.
But Maximo Park are intense young men, and when he's singing, Smith sometimes looks like he's bordering on paranoia or mania. In between songs, though, he is immaculately polite, introducing each tune, and often each album, a trainspotting otaku's dream. They have a new mini album, Missing Songs
