Lilly Allen

Rocking Out With Horns!

It was hard to get into the Red Marquee on Saturday as pop sensation Lilly Allen delivered a stunning set that drew on influences ranging from ska to punk and pop.

The diminutive Allen was dressed in a flowing dress and flanked by a 3-person horn section that filled out songs such as "Shame on you" and "Everything's Just Wonderful". Allen has been the top of the pops for her Cockney-accented rhyme, and her unique musical style which mixes nearly all of the influences from her colorful life. For example, the song "Alfie" was dedicated to her younger brother, and it implored him to live a cleaner, more respectable life instead of brooding at home in his bedroom. In the end, she played "Smile" which went to Number 1 on the UK charts and got the crowd clapping and smiling. Lilly Allen delivered a fine, musical set, easily appreciated by everyone in the Red Marquee on Saturday afternoon.
