Bereft of some of the regular crew of merry pranksters, you could ask where Palace of Wonder's Crystal Palace would go musically. Right down to the river to the source once again luckily. Wild Jim West poured out some great rare finds of classic Southern soul and R&B, rock steady and funk as if he'd pulled the tunes out of an alternate history of music. We're talking songs you've never heard but feel as if you have, songs that get you moving.
Crystal Palace is always a great place to be schooled in everything you don't know about where the beat has been before and hidden since. You might have been getting ready for the Gogol, but the treat had already begun.
