It’s been said that Japan is a testing ground for new material. That can be good or bad, but one of the things I look forward to each year are cover songs – many bands include at least one. Some are staples of a band’s repertoire, while others are being tried for the first time.
You can tell a lot about a band by the songs they cover. Cover songs can indicate a band’s influences, aspirations or sense of humor. Here are a few from this year’s Fujirock:
